In a long awaited return to the ancient city of Pompeii, David Gilmour will perform two shows this summer. The July performances will take place in the same amphitheater featured in Pink Floyd’s classic “Live at Pompeii” concert film. The site of the historic shows is in fact home to the oldest surviving Roman amphitheater, preserved by the infamous eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. The ampitheater resided under ash for nearly 1,600 years following the eruption of Vesuvius.
SELF DRIVING IN ITALY
For all you fashion lovers out there, the Italian Concierge brings you a report on the recent Fashion Week in Milan, Italy. Milan Fashion Week, presenting the Spring 2016 collections, took place from Feb 24 to March 2.
Tourists looking forward to visiting Italy’s Cinque Terre may be limited by new proposals capping the number of visitors allowed into the area. Restrictions limiting the number of visitors into the World Heritage Site have been proposed, and may be implemented as early as this summer.
This week’s Italian Concierge blog was inspired by a recent trip to Venice. During the winter months, the streets of Venice are still filled with tourists and merrymakers alike, who brave the outdoors despite low temperatures and misty skies. A popular way to warm up and beat the bone chilling cold is with a warm glass of vin brulé. During winter months, you can find a cup at almost every bar, bacaro, and even in small stands on the street.
