Welcome 2024! - France and Italy - Beat the Crowds, and save with off season travel - January, February, March.
2023
What lies ahead in 2024 for travelers to Italy & France? Reserve early.
REPORT FROM THE FIELD: In 2023 by mid May, hotels were sold out in popular markets, such as Amalfi Coast and Capri and Lake Como. Finding view rooms, especially delux category rooms, or family rooms, were far between. 2024 we have already learned that hotels reservation policies in Capri, and Amalfi coast during high season ie. starting Mid May - Mid September require minimum stays from 3-5 nights. Hotels in those areas are also limiting the number of group rooms they will allow us to reserve, and we have had to look in alternative towns to fulfill large groups requests.
In short , we are advising our clients to start the planninng early to be offered the largest inventory of rooms. (With rooms in short supply, we can always seem to find a suite for EURO 3000 + a night last minute. )
Other changes that travelers can expect; Last year ticket purchasing for high demand venues such as Vatican & Coliseum, tend to sell out for select times as well. Much of this issue has to do with limited access to tickets from Co-Op Culture for coliseum untill 30 days prior to the date of attendence. Our understanding is that Co-op Culture will no longer be taking care of these sales or that the terms will change . Stay tuned on that.
Specialty July concerts such as in Cold Play in Roma or Bocelli in Lajaitico or Taormina or in unique Venues such as Terme di Caracalla or Taylor Swift in France or in Milano, tend to sell out early as well. It pays to book in advance.
