Inside of the Vatican, Bernini's iconic Baldachin will be restored for Jubilee Year of 2025. Travelers visiting the Eternal City between October to December 2024 can expect to see some of the cities well known sites under restoration, such as the Fontana di Trevi (Trevi Fountain), Piazza Venezia, the fountain in Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, the fountain in front of the Pantheon and the Eternal City’s iconic seventh wonder, the Colosseum. 

Opening of the Holy Door “Porta Santa” at the Vatican in St. Peter’s Square

The most exciting and well-known ritual is certainly the opening of the Holy Door. This Gate is opened only during the Jubilee Year of 2025  and the four main doors   in Rome are the basilicas  St. Peter’s Basilica (the Vatican), San Giovanni in Laterano,Basilica of Saint Paul Outside The Walls, and Santa Maria Maggiore. The first to be opened is St. Peter's Basilica, the other doors are opened in the following days and remain open until the end of the Jubilee Year of 2025 when they are walled up again.
