It’s easy to dine with a nice view on the Amalfi Coast as you usually have the sea right in front of you. We could talk about which restaurant has the best view, but that would be too easy. Today we want to highlight the best restaurants for Summer 2025 without sea views, because we feel you may miss unique experiences by not selecting these places. Let’s start from Positano and drive south towards Salerno.

In Positano, there’s Al Palazzo: you may find yourself on a busy evening in Positano needing a little peace and quiet. Step into the garden away from the crowd to enjoy a nice dinner with a classic “spaghetti alle vongole” or a revisited appetizer with a local glass of chilled white wine.
A few meters after the beginning of the pedestrian area, there’s another gem, Da Max, where you’ll dine in an art gallery or in the garden, weather permitting. The unique pieces displayed here are also available for purchase.
Along SS163 towards Amalfi, right after Il San Pietro, try La Taverna del Leone, once used almost exclusively by locals as it’s also a pizzeria. The new generation has shifted its vibe towards a more elegant restaurant while still maintaining traditional dishes such as “antipasto di verdure,” an entrée sampler of seasonal vegetables cooked in different ways. This dish was actually removed from their menu when the restaurant changed ambience, but they were forced by popular demand to reintroduce it. The current family has been running it for at least 35 years. Don’t miss their Mousse al Cioccolato for dessert—perhaps not typical of the region, but absolutely delicious.
From here, a few turns and you’re in Praiano, truly the center of the Amalfi coast. Visit Che Bontà, probably one of the best pizzerias around, though calling it just a pizzeria isn’t accurate. This is a full Mediterranean restaurant where Lazzaro in the kitchen and his wife Giovanna at the tables will host you for lunch or dinner.
About 30 minutes from here, you’ll reach Amalfi. Here we must mention La Caravella, one of the first Michelin-starred restaurants in southern Italy. Antonio Dipino will take you to their cellar, listed on the World’s Best Wine List in 2022 by the World of Fine Wine, and to their private art collection of ceramics and ceramic shop—offering not just food and wine but also an art tour.
Just around the corner, overlooking the main square and facing the Cathedral, is Terrazza Duomo. A young team with Salvatore the Chef and Alfonso at the tables will host your dining experience here. Don’t miss their “Paccaro.”
Just around the corner from here in Atrani, A’ Paranza offers a classic fish restaurant in a charming setting.
A short ride to Minori and you’ll find La Botte, a family-run restaurant. Here, don’t miss their “Antipasto di Mare” and their “Spaghetti alle Vongole,” probably one of the best in the area.
