The Blue Flag List in Italy

05 MARCH 2025

It is no surprise that Italy has over 4700 miles of shoreline and is surrounded by the Adriatic, Ionian, Tyrrhenian,  and Ligurian seas.

A summer  “must do”  activity for any Italian is to “ andare al mare”, but  when planning your vacation to Italy, just where exactly should you go to the beach in Italy?

The best place to research where to visit this summer for  a beach stay   in Italy is to consult  the Foundation Environmental Education  list   https://www.blueflag.global/     whose acronym is  FEE,   is a  Danish non profit whose underlying goal is to protect the environment , and  vets water cleanliness  and applicants globally for both seaside and lake  locations.   Italy  has 458 beaches which   have been approved. France has 298 sites approved.

If spending some of your time near the water when traveling in Italy, or France, consult this list to help you select where to stop  . The region of Liguria is numero uno on the top  of the list with the  highest number of beaches  included

Here is the current listing for Italy there are 17 regions present out of  the 20 regions in Italy.
