UPDATE FROM ITALY
July 10, 2020
By now, just about any traveler interested in Italy has heard about the five villages of the Cinque Terre in the region of Liguria.
Liguria is situated northwest of Tuscany and the coastline wraps around the Mediterranean with Genova in the center, and touches France in the western side.
Why visit the Cinque Terre?
Over these past 24 years I have had the good fortune to be able to visit a variety of wineries as I traveled up and down the country of Italy during my travels. Given that Italy is the world’s largest producer of vino, (whose title is often shared and frequently disputed with France) it makes sense that we blog on wines and eventually wine travels. When deciding which R&D, wineries to visit during my R& D scouting adventures I use Gambero Rosso’s- Italian Wines book.
If you are not familiar with Gambero Rosso, they are considered a prestigious food and wine publishing group and are responsible for the wine awards called Tre Bicchere which are a Big deal in Italy.
Big news from the eternal city! The world’s most important private collection of ancient marble sculptures will be showcased in Rome this March. The illustrious Torlonia Collection will be displayed at Palazzo Caffarelli at the city’s Capitoline Museums, located at Piazza del Campidoglio, 1. The exhibition “The Torlonia Marbles: Collecting Masterpieces” will display 96 of the anthology’s impressive 620 ancient sculptures.
